These photos were taken on the set of the TV mini-series "War and Remembrance" in 1987. There were actually 757 sets in this sprawling epic, but this particular one was at the former Tipton Army Airfield at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
By any measure, this production, which has been called the last of the mini-series, was an ambitious undertaking. Based on the novel of the same name by Herman Wouk, its filming took place in eleven countries, with a script that featured 358 speaking parts, and over 40,000 extras! Although 'Briefing Time' and her hangar mate MAAM's R4D # 50819 had no lines, we like to think they rated a bit above that hoard. Let's just say their billing was just a bit below Robert Mitchum and Jane Seymour, sharing their scenes below...
