FSX BASIC COMPATIBILITY UPDATE FOR THE FS2004 B-25J 'BRIEFING TIME'
File Size - 4.8 MB
This is a free update to allow owners of MAAM-SIM's B-25J 'Briefing Time' to install and use the FS9 aircraft in Flight Simulator X. There have been many changes by Microsoft from FS9 to FSX. This update primarily addresses changes in the panel and aircraft configurations, and gauges. It will install thumbnail pictures for the FSX Select Aircraft Menu. May be used for any edition FS9 Briefing Time CD and the Download Version.
ATTENTION! This patch is not fully compatible with FSX Service Packs 1 and 2 or the Acceleration Expansion Pack. For a discussion of this issue, please refer to the MAAM-SIM Support Forum.
This upgrade will allow you to use the planes in the new sim, but more remains to be done, and there are some features that are no longer supported by FSX. We intend to produce a full-blown FSX version of the aircraft package in the future. Includes illustrated html installation instructions which you should definitely use! By MAAM-SIM
File Size - 17.0 MB
NOTE: This upgrade is only required for FS2002 'Briefing Time' CD versions. Newer editions of the BT CD and the Download Version include a full FS2004 aircraft package. By MAAM-SIM
File Size - 12.1 MB
This add-on requires previous installation of full FS2002 or FS2004 'Briefing Time' package. It installs a solid-nose, "strafer" model equipped with 14 forward-firing guns. The "Falcon" depicts a plane of the 489th BS, 345th BG. By MAAM-SIM
NOTE: This variation is included in later editions of the Briefing Time CD and the Download Version.

This self-installing upgrade makes all the pop-up auxiliary panels undockable in the MAAM-SIM B-25J Mitchell 'Briefing Time' for FS2004. This facilitates pop-up use in spot plane and tower view modes as well as in multi-monitor rigs. All auxiliary panels can be UNDOCKED, resized, and repositioned as desired.
The upgrade also includes a new mini-panel that uses Briefing Time's own gauges, rather than those of the default Cessna. By MAAM-SIM

This fix is only required for users of either the 'Light' or 'Medium' complexity model versions and who need to get reflections back on their canopies. This depends on your video card. Users of the 'Full' complexity B-25 model do not need to install this update. By MAAM-SIM

This is a conversion of the original html manual to Adobe PDF format, primarily intended for those who wish to print it. It lacks the dynamic links of the original and the graphics are degraded, somewhat, so it should not be used as the primary manual. If you do not have the Adobe reader on your system you can download one free here. By MAAM-SIM
This html add-on requires the PTM which is included on either the B-25J 'Briefing Time' CD or the B-25J Multi-Media CD, or downloaded above. It adds an interactive index and table of contents, as well as navigation hot-spots to each page of the PILOT TRAINING MANUAL FOR THE MITCHELL BOMBER B-25, AAF Manual No. 50-11, 1 APR 45. INSTALLATION OF "RATTLE REPAINTS" BY STEPHAN "RATTLE" DEMMELMEIER
The preceding 19 texture sets were produced by Stephan Demmelmeier. While "Rattle" is not a member of MAAM-SIM, he is an outstanding repainter. However, we would suggest you do not follow the installation instructions in some of his earlier repaints, unless you have unlimited "hangar space" on your hard drive. In these, Stephan instructs you to copy the entire BT folder for each repaint. A better way, as Stephan instructs in his later repaints, is to edit the aircraft.cfg in your B-25J Briefing Time aircraft folder to add each repaint. In that way, the only additional files added to your hard drive are the repaints' texture folders which are all put into the B-25J Briefing Time aircraft folder.
Following is the step by step procedure for adding a single repaint, which you can repeat for each additional one you want to install. Alternately, if you would like to have this aircraft.cfg editing and folder renaming business done for you, we'll also give you a self-installing archive that adds all 18 of Rattle's repaints to your FS Aircraft list, automatically. Your choice. If you want the whole kit and caboodle, go here. But if you want to do it yourself, and only want one or two repaints, read on...
We'll use the most recent version for FS9 with the bare metal and falcon variations included in this example. The only difference for earlier versions would be the number of variations already in them.
1. Download the repaint you wish to add and unzip
it into a temporary folder.
2. Open the B-25J Briefing Time aircraft.cfg file using Notepad.
3. Scroll down past the last aircraft variation entry, in this case, that's
[fltsim.8] . Here's what it looks like:
[fltsim.8]
title=B-25J Falcons Light
sim=B-25_BT
model=5
panel=
sound=
texture=2
kb_checklists=BT_check
kb_reference=BT_ref
atc_id=F115
atc_model=B25
atc_type=Mitchell
ui_manufacturer=North American
ui_type=B-25J
ui_variation= Falcons Light
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=
atc_flight_number=F115
description=This solid-nose strafer version of the B-25J served with the 489th Bombardment
Squadron "Falcons", 345th Bombardment Group "Air Apaches", Okinawa in
1945.
4. After this entry you need to add a new one for the new repaint. The easiest way to do that is to open Stephan's aircraft.cfg with Notepad and copy the first section, then paste it in below the last aircraft entry in the BT aircraft.cfg. Here's what that first section looks like for "Lazy Daisy Mae"...
[fltsim.0]
title=B-25J Lazy Daisy Mae
sim=B-25_BT
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
kb_checklists=BT_check
kb_reference=BT_ref
atc_id=336012
ui_manufacturer=North American
ui_type=B-25J
ui_variation='Lazy Daisy Mae'
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=
atc_flight_number=6012
description=The B-25J 'Lazy Daisy Mae' served with the 501st Bombardment Squadron, 345th
Bombardment Group in the Pacific.This B-25 became the first American aircraft to land on
Philippine soil 28 October 1944 . Original Plane by MAAM (www.maam.org). Repaint by
Stephan Demmelmeier.
5. Change the number of the [fltsim] entry to
reflect the next number in sequence. In our example, that would be
[fltsim.9]
6. Rename the texture folder of the repaint to the next available texture number.
Look in the Briefing Time aircraft folder to find out how many are there.
Since in our example, this is the first repaint, you would name the folder
"texture.3". Note: that dot in the title is critical.
7. Drag or copy the renamed texture folder into the B-25J Briefing Time aircraft folder.
8. Edit the aircraft.cfg texture entry to match the number of the renamed repaint texture folder, in this case, texture=3.
9. If your repaint calls for the solid-nose
strafer version of BT, the model line will read model=3. In our example, this is not
the case, so the model line remains
undesignated, which means it is the full version of Briefing Time. If you wish to
use a medium or light version, these are the proper entries:
model= (blank) Full VC version of BT
model=1 Light, no VC version of BT
model=2 Medium VC version of BT
model=3 Full VC version of Falcon gunship
model=4 Medium VC version of Falcon gunship
model=5 Light, no VC version of Falcon gunship
10. Save the aircraft.cfg and close everything up. That's all there is to it. The next time you start FS, your repaint will show up as a variation of BT or the Falcon Gunship, as the case may be. Follow this same procedure for each repaint you wish to add.
