BATTLE OF MIDWAY AND BATTLE OF THE CORAL SEA SCENERY
by Yanco
These scenery files have no actual connection with MAAM-SIM, but I am placing this set of files here because it is such a perfect companion for the TBF/TBM Avenger. Calling it a "scenery" is in itself doing the creation a disservice, as it is more of a complete FS experience than anything I have every encountered before. Look at the screenshots, most by the author, Yanco, taken from the downloads. The ones featuring the Avenger, are the only exceptions...
There are five zips that make up this epic creation housed at "Yanko's Toy Box". Click on the titles below to download:

INSTALLATION: Install the five archives in the order, above. In each case, dump the folders Addon Scenery, Aircraft, and Effects folders, only into the main FS9 directory. Allow files to be overwritten as you go. After all this is done, activate the sceneries in the FS9 Scenery Library. There will be just three sceneries to activate: MIDWAY-flaten, MIDWAY-J, and MIDWAY_A. Make sure the "flaten" is a lower number (higher on the scenery area priority list) than the others.
CARRIER OPERATIONS: You can make arrested landings on all of the American and Japanese carriers with the Carrier Operations Package, as installed in the Avenger. Here is a dsd_arrester_zone.ini file including all the carriers for both battles, as well as the USS Langley off Okinawa and in the Puget Sound. There are no catapults on the battle fleets, and you will need to adjust the weather to incorporate an appropriate headwind.
SETTINGS: You can witness, or take part in the different phases of these two great battles by setting the time of day. You need not set the date. Refer to the readme's for the schedules of takeoffs, landings, and attacks. To see everything, you will need to set your Scenery Complexity to at least Very Dense. Also, remember to turn on your Traffic. To avoid some peculiar, unwanted effects, turn off the Aircraft Shadows.
LOCATION:
Both Fleets at the Battle of Midway can be found in the Go To Airport Menu under
United States - Midway Islands.
The American Fleet at Coral Sea is listed under Australia - Coral Sea.
The Japanese Fleet at Coral Sea is under Papua New Guinea - Coral Sea.
I think you will find these amazing "sceneries" the perfect setting to fly your new Avengers. I also want to express our admiration for what Yanko San has accomplished. I can only imagine how many hours went into the creation of this monumental freeware masterpiece!
